Is it an insult to be labeled as someone with a disbilty

Is the label “disability” insult or is it important to use the term for them? By Jessica Swainson Personally I hate being labeled as a person with a disability, because that is not all I am. I believe that there are people in this world that don’t know how to talk to people with a disability. People with disabilities are just like normal human beings, we are like the average joe. Maybe we need a little more time, we don’t do things like a normal person. I know in my life I have let my disability get in the way of things that I want to do, but that doesn’t mean that I give up and try new things. Sometimes it hard for me to see people do things that I can’t do for example like climbing rocks or boogie boarding. For me it’s like I am sitting on the side lines. Sometimes it is an insult to be labeled as someone with a disability, because that is all that they think I am. I have done some pretty amazing things that have proven people wrong like written a book, acted in plays and movie. I was a writer in resident at the hub which was an amazing experience. I wrote a couple screenplays and people have been in them. I wrote a web series and my friends have helped me put it together. I filmed and wrote a documentary about myself. I got a twenty thousand dollar to do a documentary about my friend. The point I am trying to make is that people have no right to see special needs people with just a disability, because they don’t know what they can do. If they want to just see the disability then its their problem, but they don’t know what I can do.
